ABOUT THE EVENT:
As a group you will work and help each other to build picture frames to take home. Enjoy an ANALOG experience! Groups often have so much fun working with their hands that almost no one is tempted to look at their cell phone until the project is complete! Except for the selfies and event photos we take as we build. At the end we print them and put them in the frames to take home!
DETAILS:
Though we customize each event , typically the event or party breaks down like this:
In the first 2 hours you and your group will take turns cutting the wood for your picture frames, adding a decorative molding detail using a router, then using a combination of the orbital sander and hand sanding to smooth the surface.. Then each person uses the chop saw to cut and miter their picture frame.
Next, the picture frames will be assembled using nail gun and glue.
At this point the cutting and work with saw blades is finished and adults can feel safe having a couple of drinks.
FOOD BREAK:
We can offer a variety of food and drink options in the area or arrange delivery. For the authentic DUMBO experience we suggest going upstairs from the shop. There is a great local restaurant Superfine, daily sourced, organic cuisine, and cocktails
After lunch the group will take turns final sanding and rag applying danish oil to finish and protect the wood.
We have an epson printer so that you can print a photo of the experience and take it home framed!
We’ll cut and furnish plastic for the front and backing panel to complete your framed event photos

Jon's teaching philosophy: Safety First.
In and out of the shop, Jon value’s values along with a good story and laugh.
Think of him as the Mr. Miyagi (from karate kid) of woodworking in Brooklyn 2021. He’s the real deal. Parents will surely enjoy time with Jon as much as the kids do!
